June Schedule Correction

Correction to the June schedule is as follows:

Sunday June 28- Daiheigen workout (not June 27)

June Schedule

June will be an important and extremely busy month for Team Sacramento. We have USJA Junior Nationals in San Diego and Daiheigen workouts throughout June to prepare for the USJF Junior Nationals in July. We also have a fantastic event at Folsom MMA with a special guest appearance by Chuck Liddell. This is what the June schedule will be:

All normal practices during the week

Saturday June 6- Special practice and meet and greet sessions with Chuck Liddell (all students expected to attend)

Sunday June 7- Daiheigen Junior National workout at Okubo (all Junior National competitors expected to attend)

Saturday & Sunday June 20 & 21- USJA Junior Nationals

Sunday June 27- Daiheigen Junior National workout at Okubo (all Junior National competitors expected to attend)

As you can see with our normal practice schedule we have quite a full month, this is the apex of what we have worked so hard for. It is time to work harder than ever.

Exciting Announcement

It is my pleasure to announce that Chuck Liddell will be at Folsom MMA on June 6, at 3:00 PM. He will most likely be there early to meet the members of Team Sacramento and take photos with us. He will then do a meet and greet for people that want to show up. Proceeds will go to Team Sacramento and he is doing this event without charge. I expect all judoka to be there that day for a good workout, pictures, and most of all fun! Please mark your calendar and look for more announcements as the event draws closer.

Katie Davis Promotion

Team Sacramento is proud to announce the promotion to Nikyu (second degree brown) of Katie Davis. Katie has continued to work very hard and recently went to a camp for the visually impaired at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where she placed second in the tournament at the end of the camp. Katie also placed first in the Open Division of the United States Senior Nationals for the visually impaired last month. Katie will be one of the competitors participating in the California State Championships at the end of this month. Congratulations Katie!

May Schedule

I just wanted to give an update to everyone on what the May schedule will be. This will be a very important month to continue training for the Sate Championships (May 22-24) and then the two Junior Nationals during the summer. Practices will be normal schedule and Saturday practices as I have noted earlier have changed time and location. We must all train hard to make sure that we give ourselves the best possible chance for success. We will take a team of about 15 competitors to the California State Championships on May 22-24 in San Diego. This will be the highlight for some of our players and the stepping stone for others going on to Junior Nationals. The final day of the month Sunday May 31 there will be a referee clinic in the Sacramento area (most likely Okubo) and I encourage all of the coaching staff to attend. I will give details as they come. I would also like to let everyone know that we will potentially be having Daiheigen sponsored workouts to prepare for Junior Nationals. There has been some interest from other clubs and I will give more information as it becomes available to me. Let's train for success and not lose the lessons that we have learned the past several months.
