January Schedule

Team Sacramento January schedule is about getting back to business and celebrating 2014. We will be taking Wednesday December 31 and Thursday January 1 off to celebrate New Years. We will also have our annual awards banquet on Friday January 16. Please join us to celebrate another great year. All practice times and days will remain the same.
 
Orangevale- Tuesday and Thursday evening 6:30 to 8:00 and Saturday morning 10:00 to 12:30
 
Sacramento- Monday and Wednesday evening 5:00 to 6:30
 
The new year will start our competition training schedule and beginning of the heart of the competition season for the team.

CCSF Results

Team Sacramento had eight competitors at the San Francisco City College Tournament on December 7. The team competed hard and won 14 of the 28 matches that they had. Eleven of the wins came by ippon. Congratulations to Abby and Amy Baquera who became our first mother daughter combination to both place first in their divisions! Here are the individual results:

December Schedule

Team Sacramento is full of activity for the month of December. We will be attending the CCSF Tournament on Sunday December 7. This will mean there is no practice on Saturday December 6. We will also be holding our annual Kids Christmas Party on Saturday December 20 at the Orangevale Dojo from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This is always a very fun event for the whole team. We will be off on December 24 and 25 for Christmas and again on December 31 and January 1 for New Year.

Palo Alto Tournament Results

Team Sacramento sent 10 competitors to the Palo Alto Judo Tournament on Sunday November 9. The team had an excellent day posting 24 wins compared to 14 losses. Of the ten players nine were awarded medals. The team won its 24 matches by scoring 22 ippons. Special recognition to Anthony Baquera for competing in his first tournament in a few years. 2014 Pan Am Infantile Results

Marlina Luz and Albert Williams III competed in the 2014 Pan Am Infantile Judo Championships in San Juan Puerto Rico on Saturday November 1. Marlina placed fifth competing against Puerto Rico, Ecuador, and Brazil. Albert competed in his first USA Judo international event and placed third competing against Puerto Rico, Ecuador, and Columbia. Congratulations to both Mina and Boo for representing Team Sacramento and Team USA.

November Schedule

Team Sacramento November schedule has one tournament and a break for Thanksgiving. We will be competing at the Palo Alto Judo Tournament on Sunday November 9. This should be a good event as they are changing venues. This will also mean that there is no practice on Saturday November 8. We will also be taking Wednesday November 26 to Sunday November 30 off for the Thanksgiving holiday. All other practice days and times remain the same.

Capital Open Results

Team Sacramento competed at the Capital Open Judo Tournament on Sunday October 5. The team had a lot of new faces and 18 competitors total. Special congratulations to Amy Baquera, Jackson Kusaba, Yashar Zamanian, and Addison Hempstead for competing in your first judo tournament. Out of the 18 competitors 14 received medals. Everyone showed good spirit and solid technique with 18 of the 20 wins coming by ippon. Here are the individual results:

Congratulations to Katie Davis for competing in the World VI Championships in Denver, CO. Katie lost both of her matches (Russia & Turkey) and finished out of medal contention. I am sure Charlie and Michael are proud of her as we all are.

October and Sacramento Move

Team Sacramento October schedule starts out with the Capital Open Tournament at Consumnes River College on Sunday October 5. We will also be going to the park across the street after the tournament for a pizza party and team building event. This means there will be no practice on Saturday October 4. All other practice times and schedules will not change for the month. We will be moving the Sacramento location to a temporary facility starting on Wednesday October 1. The new Sacramento location will be:

September Schedule

The Team Sacramento September schedule is standard practice schedule with no days off and no tournaments for the month. We will prepare for our first tournament of the 2014/2015 season which will be early October in Sacramento (details to follow as they are received).


USJA/USJF Junior National Results

Team Sacramento sent five players to the USJA/USJF Junior Nationals in Hawaii. The team won 10 matches and lost 10 matches in a very tough competition. Of the ten wins eight were by ippon. August Schedule and New Dojo

Team Sacramento is about to end our summer break and begin training again. Classes will start the week of August 11. Class times will be the same schedule with the Sacramento location practicing on Monday and Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:30 PM and our new Orangevale location practicing on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The times for the new Orangevale location may change in the near future as we get our schedule together and set up the dojo. The new dojo is located at:

Please feel free to come and join us as we move, paint, and clean the new dojo this weekend starting Saturday August 2 at 10:00 AM. This is an exciting time for the organization and we look forward to a bright future.

2014 Junior Olympics Results

Team Sacramento sent four competitors to Irving, Texas for the Junior Olympics June 27-29. The competition was excellent and the team fought with great spirit. Competitors won seven of their 14 matches with five wins coming by ippon. Here are the individual results:

CJI State Championship Results

Team Sacramento competed in the CJI State Championships in Sacramento on June 1. The team had 22 competitors and earned 16 medals including 4 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze. Special recognition to Kevin and Henrick who competed in their first competition for Team Sacramento. The team won 38 matches losing 35 with 32 wins by ippon! It was a great day together and it was awesome that all of the families were there to support throughout the day. OHANA!

June Schedule

Team Sacramento has a busy June on tap. The team starts the month competing at the CJI State Championships on Sunday June 1 in Sacramento. We should have over 20 competitors at this event and any student that has not competed should plan to come and watch and encourage your fellow team members. The team will also be sending several players to the USA Judo Junior Olympics from June 27 to 29 in Irving, Texas. This will mean there is no practice on Saturday June 28. All other practice times and locations will remain the same. Please remember that the team will be moving with Yemaso BJJ to our new Sacramento location at 6831 Savings Place #209, Sacramento 95828. This should be an exciting month and we look forward to seeing everyone compete and work hard all month long.

Sacramento Location Change

Team Sacramento and Yemaso BJJ are moving. This means that the Sacramento practice location will now be located at

We are excited to move into this new facility starting June 2, 2014. The new location is conveniently located less then a mile from the current Yemaso location. We look forward to seeing everyone at practice on Monday June 2.

2014 Senior National Results

Team Sacramento had three competitors take part in the 2014 Senior National Championships in Reno, NV on May 4. Competing in the M-4 100 kilo division Pedro Teixeira captured a gold medal. Katie Davis made a successful come back competing and winning the 70+ kilo division of the VI category. Courtney Revada-Luz competed in his first national event in the brown belt 81 kilo division and did not place. The team ended the day at four wins and two losses with two wins coming by ippon. Congratulations to everyone and thanks to all the students and parents who came to support our competitors.

Cupertino Tournament Results

Team Sacramento competed in a very tough Cupertino Invitational Tournament on Sunday March 30. The team is doing excellent competing against very tough opponents and all of the families are doing a great job of supporting both the coaches and the athletes. It is much appreciated. The team won only 19 matches while losing 27 with 15 ippons. This is far below what we have come to expect as far as wins and losses but our players are doing a great job and are improving tremendously. We just need to keep working hard to become even better. April Schedule

The Team Sacramento April schedule includes one tournament and a day off of the regular schedule. The team will be off from practice on Saturday April 5. This will be a good time for everyone to get some much needed rest after a busy February and March. The team will also compete at the CCSF Invitational on Sunday April 13 in San Francisco. The team will be skipping practice the day before the tournament Saturday April 12. All other practice times and schedules remain the same.

Team Sacramento sent Albert Williams III and Marlina Luz to the 2014 Scholastic National Championships in Irving Texas on March 22. Both competitors lost their first match and had to fight through the consolation bracket to end up with a Bronze for Albert and a Silver for Marlina. The two of them combined to win 8 matches while losing 4. They won 7 of the 8 matches by ippon. Congratulations to both of you for working so hard to come back and contend and ultimately win medals in a tough competition.

Team Sacramento competed in the Vacaville PAL Tournament on Sunday February 23. It was a great tournament for the team with several first and second time competitors. March Schedule

Team Sacramento March schedule is very full this year. We will be having a Black Belt Ceremony on Saturday March 8 for Daniel Luz after practice around 1:00 PM in Folsom. This will be an exciting day for everyone as we welcome Daniel to the black belt family. We will also hold the annual Sensei Birthday Workout and Pot Luck on Saturday March 15 in Folsom from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This is always a great challenge so make sure to come prepared. We will be sending two competitors to the Scholastic National Championships in Dallas Saturday March 23. To end the month we will be competing in the Cupertino Invitational on Sunday March 30. All practice times and schedules remain the same with the exception of taking Saturday March 29 off before the tournament. Looking forward to seeing everyone this month.

The win loss record was a little low as the team won 21 matches compared to 23 losses. A total of 14 matches were won by ippon. February Schedule

The February schedule for Team Sacramento will be a busy one. We have two tournaments during the month and a full practice schedule. We will be participating in the San Jose Buddhist Tournament on Sunday February 9th and the Vacaville PAL Tournament on Sunday February 23rd. As always we will not be having practice the day before these tournaments. We look forward to the excellent competition in San Jose and hope to have a lot of the less experienced players competing in Vacaville. All other practice times and schedules remain the same.
