Pan Am Games Results

Michael and Katie Davis competed in the visually impaired division of the Pan American Games in Colorado Springs on Saturday July 18. Congratulations to both of them as they took home bronze medals. Michael also competed in the team tournament and with his teammates earned another bronze medal. Michael and Katie will now begin training for the upcoming U.S. Open in September where they will be fighting to earn a spot on the U.S. visually impaired world team. Make sure that you help them to work hard at practice to help them achieve their goals.

Andrea Estrada

I missed one very important competitor, Andrea Estrada fought in the first of many future Junior Nationals and competed hard in a very difficult division finishing out of the top three. As with all the competitors that were competing in your first National tournament this will be a stepping stone to future success and now you know that you can compete with the best.

USJF Junior National Success

Team Sacramento and Daiheigen had an extraordinary weekend in San Francisco at the USJF Junior Nationals. In the two day tournament Team Sacramento had 12 players competing in 13 divisions. We brought home a total of 8 medals. Bringing home medals were:

Syria Rhodes- Silver & Silver in IJF Division
Ashley Booth- Silver
Marlina Luz- Silver
Conrad Perez- Bronze
Daniel Luz- Bronze
Ellis Shaw- Bronze
Curtis Booth- 2009 National Champion Gold

Also participating were Matt Ontiveros who finished 2-2 making it all the way to the semi finals in a very difficult division. Nick Ontiveros who went 1-2 and had his first National tournament experience. Isabella Perez fought hard but finished out of the top three. LJ Cudal did not win a match but went to flags in his final match for his first National tournament experience. Congratulations to all of you for your tremendous effort in the tournament and for your dedication and hard work for the past several months to get ready for this event.

Daiheigen also competed in the team tournament in both the male and female competition. The female team was not able to get past Hawaii but took an impressive second place.

The Daiheigen male team fielded only four out of the five possible competitors but still dominated the competition for first place. It was a great experience for Team Sacramento members Conrad Perez and Daniel Luz. Also on the team were Jordan (Manteca) and Sid (Stockton). Congratulations to all Daiheigen competitors on an excellent performance.

Save The Date

I just wanted to inform everyone of a couple of future important dates so that everyone can put them on your calendars now. We will be having our annual summer event at Sunsplash in Roseville on Sunday August 30. This is always a very good time and I hope to see everyone and their families for some Team Sac fun after all of the hard work we have put in this summer. The next date is Sunday September 27 for our first golf tournament fundraiser. This event will require some help from volunteers so I am hopeful that everyone can attend and help out with the event planning and assistance with registration and other activities. Please try to be at both events and as always we will have a good time.
