Tournament Teams

Team Sacramento is sending two small tournament teams out this weekend to major events. Curtis and Ashley Booth will be representing the team at the Sholastic National Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is a major junior points tournament for the National Junior Roster. Also this weekend Katie Davis will be competing in the Visually Impaired World Championships in Turkey. This tournament is a stepping stone for Katie to be recognized for inclusion on the Paralympic Team that heads to London next year. Michael Davis will also be traveling with the team as an alternate. Best wishes to all team members as you compete against the best.

Care Package For Allen Johnson

I am still preparing a care package for Allen Johnson so please let me know if you plan to donate anything for the package. Suggestions for the package are every day items that we take for granted such as snacks, toiletries, reading materials, etc.

Reminder No UTC Practice Wednesday March 30

THERE IS NO PRACTICE AT UTC ON WEDNESDAY MARCH 30! Stay tuned for updates regarding future scheduling.

Final UTC Practice and Promotions

Last night we had a spirited workout at UTC our training facility in Roseville since 2007. We will no longer be training at UTC but will take fond memories of hard work, friendship, and the spirit of KONJO that we cultivated while we were there. Team Sacramento inspired one of the phrases on the wall at UTC "Every day is leg day" and those of you that were with the team remember those leg days. While saying goodbye we were able to have two very special promotions as we celebrated the success of Nicolas and Matthew Ontiveros by promoting them to the well deserved level of green belt. Both Nic and Matt have been training with us since day one at UTC and have inspired with their hard work and dedication. There is no better way to end our time at UTC then with a celebration of two outstanding young men. Congratulations Nic & Matt.

UTC Status

I want to inform everyone that as of April 1, Ultimate Training Center will be closing its doors at the North Sunrise location. Team Sacramento wants to extend our appreciation to UTC for all of the memories and wish the staff nothing but the best in the future. As for Team Sacramento, we will be weighing our options to come up with a solution for Monday and Wednesday practice locations. More news regarding a plan of action will be forth coming. Please be patient while a solution is sought.

Birthday Workout

Great birthday workout on Saturday March 19! The team had 45 students participate in a spirited workout. We all shared in the pain and made it through the challenge and now we can look forward to the stretch run of the judo season. I look forward to a great competition next weekend in Cupertino. Thanks to all of the parents and members for the fantastic pot luck! It was great to come together in the spirit of ohana to celebrate another year and all of our success and hard work. I am honored to be your leader and hope that I continue to be worthy of your kindness.

Booster Membership Drive

I am doing a USJF Booster membership drive to try to expand the club membership and USJF enrollment. A USJF Booster membership with Team Sacramento cost $15 and expands our team roster and helps both USJF and Team Sacramento. Part of the $15 membership fee comes back to Team Sacramento and contributes to various events that we have throughout the year. My goal is to have at least 20 Booster members, we currently have three boosters on the roster. Anyone is eligible to be a booster, brothers, sisters, parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents, etc. Please consider booster membership, and see Goodall Sensei for information and sign up forms.

Respectfully,

Goodall Sensei
